From Rags To Rags: Our Journey to Becoming Wisconsin’s 8th Most Beloved Satire Site

MILWAUKEE-  Competition is fierce when it comes to satire news in Wisconsin. When we embarked on this noble quest to become Wisconsin’s 8th most beloved parody news site, little did we know the trials and tribulations that lay ahead. 

First, let’s address the elephant in the room, or should we say, the onion in the room? Yep, we’re talking about The Onion, that Madison-born juggernaut of satire. They’ve set the bar so high that even Giannis looks up to it. 

So, here we are, Wisconsin News Today, attempting to carve our niche in a state that takes its satire seriously. We’ve seen rival satire sites emerge like mushrooms after a rainstorm in the Northwoods and then disappear into obscurity. Through it all, we’ve persevered, because in Wisconsin, you don’t quit, especially when you’re chasing that coveted 8th place. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried and we’ve learned that satire in Wisconsin is like a Packers game—sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but it’s always slightly disappointing.
