MILWAUKEE – Extra guac? More like extra Glock! The Milwaukee Common Council has suspended the Chipotle on East Ogden Avenue for two weeks after a loaded gun was found inside a customer’s burrito.
According to the customer’s complaint to police, the customer watched the burrito being made in Chipotle, took it home, peeled back its foil, and located a fully loaded semi-automatic handgun inside the entree.
The gun had its serial number filed off, a modified trigger, and was missing its safety catch. At this time, it is unclear exactly how the firearm ended up in the burrito. The customer also claims he was incorrectly charged for double meat.
“When we say our food ‘gives you a bang for your buck,’ and ‘packs a real kick,’ this is absolutely not what we had in mind,” said a Chipotle spokesperson during a recent press conference. The spokesperson also stated that it was unclear whether or not the restaurant was responsible for the tortilla-wrapped pistol. However, given the generally frightening appearance of your typical Chipotle employee and the overall nature of the city of Milwaukee, “Something like this happening is not entirely beyond the realm of possibility.”
As an apology, Chipotle customer service allowed the customer to keep the illegally modified 9mm pistol and promised to mail him a coupon for a free order of chips and queso with his next purchase of $20 or more.
