MILWAUKEE – The editorial board at Wisconsin News Today has decided, for the very first time, to endorse a candidate for elected office. In a field of candidates that would be too many people for a single elevator, only one stands out to us.
The McKinley Beach Boat washed ashore during a storm last October, meaning it meets the residency requirements for serving Milwaukee’s Third District. Encompassing Milwaukee’s iconic East Side and part of Riverwest, we can’t think of a better representative than a washed-up, graffiti-covered wreck that could be doing better given its affluent origins. The boat vows to champion infrastructure improvements, particularly those benefiting the city’s neglected waterfronts. It understands firsthand what happens when public spaces are ignored.
Bearing the name “Deep Thought” on its stern, the boat stays committed to bringing real contemplation to public policy. While some candidates may float aimlessly from issue to issue, Deep Thought is ready to anchor itself in meaningful debate and navigate the complex waters of governance.
With the McKinley Beach Boat in City Hall, we foresee smooth sailing ahead!
