USA- In recent weeks the Twitch speedrunning community have taken the mundane task of doing your taxes and turned it into something extraordinary. Turbotax, the popular tax software is now being used as a competitive platform for video game enthusiasts.
One of the top speedrunners, who goes by the username “TaxMaster42069,” claims to have completed his taxes in a record-breaking 4.4 minutes.
“It takes a lot of skill and practice to get that kind of time,” he says. “You have to be really familiar with the software and know exactly what your deductions are.”
While some are skeptical of this new phenomenon, others see it as a way to make taxes more exciting. “I’ve never been a big fan of doing my taxes, but watching these guys speedrun Turbotax is actually kind of entertaining,” says one fan. “It’s like watching a NASCAR race, except instead of cars, it’s tax forms.”
However, not everyone is thrilled about this new trend. Some accountants worry that it could lead to careless mistakes or inaccuracies on tax returns. “Filing your taxes is a serious matter, and it should be treated as such,” says one critic. “I don’t think it’s wise to turn it into a game.”
Despite the backlash, the Turbotax speedrunning community shows no signs of slowing down.
