New Statue Unveiled To Honor West Allis’ Longtime Relationship With Waukesha
WEST ALLIS – Mayor Dan Devine revealed the city’s newest plans for a large statue to be built at the western end of the city this week. It’s a piece of artwork that he hopes “will bring many visitors to the area, and at the same time, remind our neighbors in Waukesha Co. how we feel about them.”
The statue will stand 200 feet high and heavily illuminated, in order to be visible all the way to the Retzer Nature Center. To make space for the statue, and corresponding park/recreation area, the city will relocate Nathan Hale High School to the field next to West Allis Central High School.
In the press release, Mayor Devine wrote that the new statue will have various decorative arrangements, including a bow on the finger for Christmas.
The Statue will also be prepped and ready for fireworks displays, which Devine said will be primarily used on July 4th. He also hinted the finger may be a defensive weapon. With the finger on a fixed turret, he stated “The finger can be used to flip Waukesha Co. off of any direct attacks against our kingdom.”
